This is another excellent addition to the Lego City Train range and a worthy addition to any collectors existing Lego train layout, with all the usual fine attention to detail. However, If it is your first Lego Train purchase, you might want to consider the Lego City Cargo Train (7939) which is now starting to come down from it's original issue price from 2010 (As ov November 2011 - £103 UK and $168 US, comes with more pieces (982) and most likely, cheaper than this set, would offer, in my opinion slightly better value for money, or alternatively, the Lego City Passenger Train (7938). Yesterday I took a look at the Summer 2014 LEGO City High-Speed Passenger Train set, which will win over many train aficionados with its sleekness and modern appearance. But what about those who like their model trains to look a little bit less contemporary and a little more classical…? Fear not, old-time LEGO train fans! The High Speed Passenger Train 60051 isn’t the only LEGO train we’ll be getting this summer–the LEGO City Cargo Train 60052 will be pulling into the station in just a few months as well!
The LEGO City Cargo Train 60052 is part of the LEGO City Summer 2014 sets wave, and is expected to begin arriving in stores in May/June 2014. Like the High-Speed Passenger Train LEGO set, I anticipate there being massive demand for this set, so it may be tough to find when it first hits stores. once the 60052 LEGO Cargo Train is spotted in stores.
The Lego City Cargo Train (7939) is likely to be a popular gift again for Christmas 2012, as I believe it is the best value Lego train set available. Availability from retailers may become limited (although I don't expect it will be as limited as Pre-Christmas 2010/2011) the train and the Lego City Train accessories continue to be priced premium by some major retailers, but there are some bargains to be found, hopefully this will give you a background to the set features and where to locate.
