Iron Eagle is an action film released in 1986, starring Jason Gedrick and Louis Gossett Jr. It was followed by three sequels: Iron Eagle II (1988), Aces: Iron Eagle III (1992), and Iron Eagle IV (1995).
Regardless of the film’s flaws (which no movie is exempt from), "IronEagleII" is far better than the votes and comments it has received. Itcertainlyis worth at least one viewing anyways. If anything, watch it for the sheerbeauty of the dogfights and because Lou Gossett Jr. is a good actor and"Chappy" is one of his best characters alongside "Fiddler" in "Roots" andhis drill instructor character from "An Officer and aGentleman".

It troubles me to see how many low votes and negative comments that "IronEagle II" has received. I think it is an entertaining film that has a goodmix of action, drama, and even a few laughs. It really bothers me that themovie is among the worst 100 movies as voted by the users of this site, especially when I didn’t see either "Aces: Iron Eagle III" or "Iron EagleIV" on that list. I don’t really mind the third installment of the series, although it doesn’t have the same feel as the previous two. However, thefourth in the series should never have been made, because of its poor plotand cheap budget. Maybe there aren’t enough people that have seen thismovieto even vote on it, but believe me it makes "Iron Eagle II" lookOscar-worthy by comparison.
The film was popular enough to spawn several sequels, with the continuity character oddly being Chappy instead of Doug. Iron Eagle II even goes so far as to . It features a group of misfit American and Russian fighter pilots (led by Chappy) who reluctantly team up to defeat the nuclear ambitions of yet another anonymous Middle Eastern country.
